Hi, i'm ngoc.
I was born, grew up, and am currently living in Denver, Colorado. My “cinematic awakening” occurred in early 1993 when I went to the local arthouse theater for the first time and saw Baz Luhrmann’s ‘Strictly Ballroom’. That enthralling experience was followed up with subsequent viewings of ‘Orlando’ later that year, then Ang Lee’s ‘The Wedding Banquet’ in the summer of 1993. This trio of viewings sparked a burgeoning attraction to cinema that’s not just a medium for visual entertainment; but also a language that can uniquely express the mysterious depths of the human condition.
The passion to make films lay dormant up until college during which I languished in pursuit of a medical degree. One year, I wrote and directed a revisionist stage play of ‘Cinderella’ for a student body cultural celebration. It was then that I first felt the impassioned rush of conjuring up imaginary visions, and then collaborating with a team to transform that vision into art and entertainment. This indelible experience inspired me to later (much later) change course and enroll in the film program at CU Boulder where I immersed myself in film theory, history, and production.
I love my wife Mimi and my family. I enjoy eating good food, reading, watching movies, and fly fishing. Something you may not know about me is that I’m really good at car dancing. My name can be pronounced as “Knock”.
